muddy

phew, it has been quite a week (plus a few days)

the mud run was awesome! we finished the course in an hour and 15 minutes and came in 83rd out of 215 girls teams. not too shabby. and i know next year we can do way better! (we just have to get laura to train a little bit, haha).

Here we are at the finish line:

so so so much fun! we were covered in mud. i washed my hair twice, and still my hair felt so out of whack. haha, but it was worth it. i'm looking forward to next year. the two groups of boys did well too...our family boys only beat us girls by 2 min (thanks to my dad ha), and chris' boys did it in an hour and 2 minutes. successful day for everyone. then a ton of people came over to jennifer's and we relaxed, watched some football, enjoyed good food, and played some games. it was a nice saturday. i was pretty bummed when i had to go home on sunday.

this week was pretty crazy. i was at an elementary school 3 out of my 4 days of classes. we got to work with 2nd graders on tuesday and thursday and it was awesome! i really really think i want to teach 2nd grade if i don't teach 1st. i just can't decide which one. and i think my kindergartners are starting to see me as a teacher figure - they try to say "ms. comisky" all the time, but it is cute cause most of them have a hard time saying it haha. but things are going well with that.

i have a lot of work to catch up on today since i have been EXTREMELY lazy this weekend. and hopefully i can squeeze a run in or convince chris to play tennis or something active. i feel even more tired when i don't work out, it's weird. i guess it really wakes my body up!

have a great week. and i'll leave you with some extreme cuteness:

busy days

gosh, this week has been busy. i was pretty productive today despite my extreme tiredness. i cleaned the bathroom, kitchen, my room, and did laundry. i also need to pack for HOME and the MUD RUN. two things i'm super excited about. school has been stressing me out a lot and i'm looking forward to a weekend away.

i was walking home from the bus dropping me off the other day and while walking down my street and this cute girl ran out of her typically cute carrboro-esque house and she was dressed super cute (cute dress and boots, i wish my parents had any fashion sense when i was little) and she reminded me of how easy it was to be a kid. she ran across the street a ways to her friends house and they were alll playing when i walked by. it reminded me so much of my childhood when we would run out and spend hours in the neighborhood doing who knows what for hours on end. i miss it so much. it made me literally smile when i walked by them.

in other news, i'm enjoying my kindergarten class more and more. they're cuties. and i'm hating the new curriculum more and more. it's sad that creative teaching is being taken out of schools. my teacher literally has a book she has to read a script from for literacy. no joke. disgusting.

i have a flag football game in less than 2 hours. GO LODGE!

and finally, i went on shopping excursions this past week. i love new clothes, it's a problem :)

enjoy the weekend.

first post

we had to create blogs for our elementary education classes so i have been into exploring blogs lately...for some weird reason. i used to post a lot on livejournal, but this seems a lot easier. i know no one will follow my blog unless i tell them about it, but we'll see if i do. right now this is mainly for me trying to organize thoughts and ideas and just have a place to come and write. i sometimes read some health food blogs which i guess inspired me in a way, but i think it'd be cool to see how long i can keep this going and see how much things change over time and what stays the same.

i have a 4 mile obstacle course called the "Mud Run" in colombia next weekend. it's a family (and boyfriend/guy friends) affair and i'm really excited. i've been trying to keep up with some workouts, but i don't know how this running will go. i really want to get into running and do some races in charlotte when i move back home after i graduate. and running is good for you. i like the gym way better than running, but i want to learn to love it.

i have been sick for the past few days, so i have been kind of out of the schedule for getting my runs in to train for my upcoming race. on top of losing my voice along with hacking up a lung, yesterday i had the pleasure of breaking out in hives.

obviously i have had a very itchy day. i took some benadryl before watching the UNC football game with some friends and that definitely helped. it also definitely made me the drowsiest i have been in forever. such a weird feeling.

well i guess that concludes my memorable first post. off to get ready and hang out with some friends for the evening!
