where have the days gone?

my life has been craziness beyond belief, but i'm loving life as a kindergarten teacher so far!

August 20th: bulletin board (now my calendar area)

August 21st: welcome to my room :)

August 22nd: funny settings on my phone

August 23rd: the front of my room before open house

August 24th: lots of free supplies

August 25th: first day of school, very early in the morning

August 26th: a large man in a tiny car literally wiping off his windshield (both sides) with a towel at a stop light.

August 27th: no picture due to hectic day + exhaustion (and forgetfulness)

August 28th: black widow spider spotted at caribou. scary!

teaching has already taken a toll on my energy levels, but i know once i get in the swing of things, it'll be better. i've never had to consistently wake up at 5:15 before, so it's been rough. i love my class of 24 kiddies, so far. rumor has it we're getting an 8th K teacher because we have too many students so i'll probably have to end up giving away 3 of them sometime soon. i have sooo much to do tomorrow to prepare for monday, which is my actual first day with all of them. i think it'll be my most nervous day thus far. but i'm going to try to get organized and once i get into a routine, i will be able to post more. since i'm a grandma now, it's bedtime. night night.

the past few days have been craziness, i can't even begin to describe. it has been a roller coaster of emotions for many many reasons. and i feel i've been going non-stop.

August 14th: notetaking from a teacher book

August 18th: butcher paper for bulletin boards

i don't know why i'm still awake because i have to be up in roughly 6 hours to get ready and drive to a random elementary school for literacy curriculum training. it'll be a blast. then i get to go spend the rest of the day in my classroom, being lost and overwhelmed yet again. i feel like i have so much stuff to get and i just can't even fathom everything i have to do. today i had to go to orientation with presentations, finger printing, ID badges (not a huge fan of the pic), and drug testing...which took about 5 hours total. then i went to my room for a few hours. it was a long day. i either see a nap or an early bedtime in my future for tomorrow. so much to do, but i'm getting excited! hopefully tomorrow evening i will have time to just pause and collect my thoughts/get organized. i can only hope.

i'm having a love affair with my pizza frozen yogurt. my friday the 13th was a great day. went to target and dropped $50+ at the dollar spot on essential teacher supplies (plus more on other things i just had to have), then enjoyed some caribou. went to a 3 hour lunch with an old friend. got a workout in. saw eat pray love (wonderful movie) and savored some delicious frozen yogurt. i'm so glad we have discovered yoforia. and last night the weather was perfect.

i'm still in shock that i'm a kindergarten teacher. it is weird saying that. i have so much to do in a span of like a week. and i feel i'm wasting time, yet i have no instructions or ideas on what to do. i'm hoping tuesday and wednesday will sort all of that out for me. next summer i want to travel somewhere. then i want to travel/teach somewhere...in a few years. for now, i'll take it each day at a time and enjoy the little things.

today could be the day i get a job. i'm keeping my fingers crossed. i've been waiting so patiently. life could get pretty crazy in the flash of a moment. i ended up getting the camera i wanted when i was visiting chris this weekend. i love it. i've been trying to enjoy the little things in life lately. i think i'm moving out soon to brian and michele's. whatever happens, is supposed to happen - i just need to keep reminding myself of that.

had my follow up interview today and i think it went really well. it's for a kindergarten position and i've been pondering if i'll do well in kindergarten. i have the most experience in it obviously, but i never thought i was cut out for it. however, i'm really excited about the opportunity and i just have to give it my best shot. i will be ecstatic if i get the job.

i'm off to hendersonville tomorrow for the weekend. the boy's birthday is on sunday, so i'm going to be spending some time with him. living apart is really tough sometimes. if i get the job, i start next week. so much to do in such a short amount of time! i'm being optimistic for once.

wouldn't that be cool? in reality, campbell has discovered the frame setting on my cell phone and is obsessed. ivette also discovered some awesome photography settings on her cell phone while we entertained the kiddies at my house this afternoon (i babysat all day) while enjoying caribou. technology is suhweet.

my tummy is still giving me trouble, but i hope it passes soon. the doc found nothing wrong with laura but a virus. i wanna get over it soon. i also want to find out what to do with my life. tomorrow i am going to get working on that, i hope.

had my birthday party with my family this weekend. it was fun. i got a lot of running stuff and i'm doing the mud run in september and hopefully the disney half marathon in february so i have a lot to start training for. i should have run today, but i didn't. i also got a nice camera from my parents (for both grad and bday), but i'm trying to figure out what kind of camera i want exactly. i also may have to go the doctor soon because i am having some bad stomach issues. and still no job. and now i think i need to create a portfolio type thing. i need some guidance for this type of stuff. and probably for life in general.
